Melisa at home

I have lived in the area for most of my life.  After attending Isle public school for kindergarten through twelfth grade, I graduated in 1985. That fall I left the area to go to college at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. During college I spent 3 months student teaching in London, England. I graduated from SCSU in March of 1990. Then, I returned home and subbed in a few area schools.
In the fall of 1991, I moved to Koyuk, Alaska and taught for 3 years. Koyuk is a small Eskimo village with 250 people located 150 miles east of Nome and 90 miles south of the Arctic Circle.  When I returned to the Mille Lacs area, I bought a house in Wahkon.  I have been here for over 20 years.
My cats
These are my cats Miley and Lola. They are sisters, but they are total opposites.  Miley like to snuggle and Lola keeps to herself.

Crafting

I LOVE TO TRAVEL.  During college I traveled overseas.  I lived in London, England for 3 months and spent 2 weeks traveling around Europe. I have been to Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, England and Scotland. I have also visited 35 of the 50 states with plans to see them all.

I have been sewing since my days in 4-H.  I have sewn clothes, curtains, and flannel baby quilts. I have also made group quilts with my aunts and cousins.

I enjoy creating cards for birthdays, Christmas, graduation and other special occasions.

When I have time, I like to make simple craft projects for decorating my house or giving to friends.
